With mcePhone for Skype, your Microsoft Windows Media Center turns into a full communication machine. You can call anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world for free. And you’ll always be able to do that. There are some other useful things you can do on Skype that aren’t free (but they’re pretty cheap, actually).

Use SkypeOut to call from Skype to traditional landlines or mobiles.
SkypeIn is a phone number your friends can call. You answer in Skype.
Skype Voicemail takes your calls when you’re busy or offline.
Skype SMS – send text messages the cheap way.

See Skype website to get more details on these exciting functions. Skype (Version 3.5 or up) has to be installed and configured on your machine for mcePhone to run.

mcePhone for Skype works together with any hardware Skype-phone perfectly. It doesn't matter if it's wired or wireless (also bluetooth headsets work). Now you will get a lot of features you have only dreamt of:

- make phone calls like usual with a "normal" phone
- free calls to other Skype-users
- call any phone number in the world at very low rates
- see call history on your TV (i.e. missed calls when you have been at work)
- receive voice mails even when pc is offline
- send SMS messages from your TV to your friends, etc.

When you run this appilication in Windows Media Center, the welcome screen will show you some information about Skype.

You can even set your Skype-status with your remote control very fast in this window. So you will not get disturbed when watching a DVD: other users can see that you do not want to be disturbed.

On an incoming call, you will be notified, whatever you are currently doing in your Media Center (i.e. watch tv).

You can pick up, ignore or reject this call directly with your remote control.

While a call is in progress, some helpful information about the call is shown.

From this window, you can directly mute your microphone, hold the call or hang up just with your remote control.

If you want to use your Media Center while talking, just press the green button on your remote control. The start menu of MCE will open while the call will be continued. You can then use your Media Center as normal, while talking!
If you want to hang up the call later, just press the "back"-button on your remote control until this shown window with the call comes back again.

If you have installed Pamela for Skype as well, you can record an active call directly with your remote control from the call details screen.

Your Skype contact list is also shown in the Media Center UI.

The contacts do not have to be imported or synchronized manually: these are the contacts directly from your installed Skype.

To import the images for your contacts into mcePhone, an easy to use importer will be installed when installing mcePhone. Just run this importer and you will see all your contact's images in Media Center as well.

You can take a look at the profile of any of your contacts:

The call lists can be accessed directly from within the application:

You can also listen to recorded voicemails with one click on the remote. Through the wonderful technology of Skype, your computer does not have to be turned on to be able to record voicemails.

And there is even more: mcePhone allows you to send SMS messages to nearly any number in this world! This service is not free, but very cheap. You need Skype Credits to send SMS messages with Skype.

For example, a message to a US recipient is as cheap as 0.104 €. Read on here for the details.

If you also have installed Pamela for Skype, you can listen to any recorded calls from Pamela in your Media Center too and start call recording directly with your remote control.

An interesting package of mcePhone + Pamela Professional is available in our online software shop.

If you have purchased Skype Credit (see Skype website for details), you can even call any landline or mobile phone directly with this plugin.

Any Skype-user can be called for free.

If you like, mcePhone for Skype can notify you about missed calls and recorded voicemails on start of Media Center.

This is very useful! Imagine coming home, turn on your Media Center and immediately see who called and listen to your voicemails...
